About the service

Our Maintenance program matches you with a volunteer with skills to help you keep you home safe for your baby, toddler or young children.

Some examples of the things Home Handy Helpers can do include:

  • setting up nursery furniture, to ensure your children are in a safe environment,
  • mowing the lawn and other basic gardening, to avoid a fire hazard and allow the children to play outside,
  • rubbish removal, to avoid risks of fire, items falling, collapse, health issues, mold, structural issues, and biohazards.

The program was established through funding from the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundationin 2014, was continued in 2015 by the Moonee Valley City Council and is now funded by the Caroline Chisholm Society through donations.
